The McAlester News-Capital and Democrat, Sunday, September 19, 1982Mrs. Belvy Mathiews of Hartshorne died Friday in Twin Cities Nursing Home. She was 92. Born Nov. 26, 1890 at Hackett, Ark., she was a charter member of Hartshorne Christian Church and a housewife. She came to Oklahoma as a child and married Henry Willis Mathiews at Stigler in 1909.
Survivors include three sons, Richard and Bolin Mathiews of Hartshorne and Truman Mathiews of Wilburton; two daughters, Mrs. Armista Kline and Mrs. Maxine Adams of Hartshorne; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Her husband, H.W. Mathiews died in 1967. She also was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter. Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday in Mills Chapel. Rev. Chester Platt, assisted by Wallace Mayo, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David, Ronald, Jerry, Barley Mathiews, Brian Klein and Willis Mayo.
