Susan A. JACKSON was born 1853 in TN. She died UNKNOWN. Susan married David W. PACE on 15 Aug 1869 in Lamar Co, TX.
There is a James F. and Rebecah or Rebecca S. Jackson living next door to David W. and Susan Jackson Pace in the 1870 Lamar Co. TX census. He is 36 and she is 35. They COULD be old enough to be her parents. He being 19 and she being 18 when she was born. The oldest child living in the household is 15. There is also a David Jackson age 23, maybe a brother, living in their household.
However, this 1870 census shows that David W. Pace was born in TN not MS so this may not be the same David W. Pace.

I have reason to believe that the first two children you listed for James and Elizabeth Fugate were actually children of Louisa/Luisa Alford who must have died before he married Elizabeth in 1858. We have the marriage date for Louisa and James to be 9 Sep 1852, Meigs Co. She is listed with her family in Roane Co. in 1850 (as ALLFORD) and the marriage record seems to have James BEADY instead of BRADY. Louisa was the daughter of John Alford and Jane McElhatton who married 1811 Grainger Co. TN.
Thank you,
shellynn
James Brady

Dear Julie,
I am not related to this Alford family but am the keeper of the genealogy file. I am the research chairman for the Alford American Family Association and we are meeting in St. Louis, MO this October. Each year we meet in a different state and concentrate on the Alfords (includes other spellings) in that particular state. Next year we are meeing in Tennessee and so I will hope to continue adding to this file as we discover more details.
The Alford family that Louisa belongs to came to MO and AR soon after 1850. She married about that same time and must have stayed in TN (as did some of the rest of the family also). I live in Springfield, MO, and have access to records of the two brothers who came to Dallas Co. MO. The parents went to Boone and Carroll Co. AR about 1852 and although found in the 1860 census, we don't know what happened to them after that (probably died but we have no record of dates or places of burial).
Louisa (as Luisa Allford) was enumerated as part of the family in 1850 Roane Co. and her marriage was Sep 9, 1852 in Meigs Co. (the family was spread out through Meigs, Roane and Rhea). As I said before the marriage was listed for James BEADY in the listing we found so I had been looking for a long time with no luck. I don't remember where but found that Louisa had a descendant named Pleasant Brady, so looking for James Brady, found him in Rhea Co. TN in 1860 (with a new wife). The marriage date you gave for James and Eliz. Fugate was 1858 and the two children born prior to that (Nancy and Pleasant) were probably not her children. I don't think you found them in 1870 because I haven't been able to do so either. I do think, however, that in 1880, Pleasant is living with his father and Pleasant's wife (Anna) and child Martha are not children of James Brady as seems to be indicated in that census. Therefore it seems to me that Elizabeth Fugate may not have had any children, although it is certainly possible that some could have been born between 1860 and 1880 and not be present in Jame's household in 1880.
I don't know much more about Louisa's background than her parents' names--John Alford, born c1787 NC and Jane McElhatten, b. c1791 NC. John's parents are unknown and in 1804 he was an apprentice learning to be a miller in Grainger Co. TN. Jane's parents were John McElhatten and Elizabeth Coulter. Elizabeth's parents were John and Jenny/Jane Coulter.
Several names in the Brady family appear in the MO Alfords. Pleasant Holloman was the father of several women who married Alfords and Arsentha/Arsenith L. Monday (possibly kin to James Brady's mother Nancy?) was the wife of Pleasant Holloman Alford (named after his grandfather Holloman).
I am happy to share what I have but don't really know if there is much more that you would be interested in. Do you know what happened to James' daughter Nancy?
