His grandparents, Duncan and Mary McDougal were born and married in Argleshire, Scotland and migrated to the U.S., to N.C., before the American Revolution; their son, Alexander, married Eleanor Gorrick in 1799; had eight children, six born in N.C. and 2 in Lauderdale Co., Ala.; moved to Lauderdale County and from there
to Lawrence County in 1833. A. G.
