James R. COLEY [Parents] 1 was born 1851. He died 1877 in AR. James married 2 Sarah "Sadie" E. WILLIS on 19 Mar 1874 in Sebastian Co. AR.
It is very possible that James R. who married Sarah Willis is this unknown child. He could have been born abt. 1851 and according to Gwen Hardin at hardin@glade.net family lore states that James R. died abt. 1877. Gwen says :
This James and Sarah had a daughter named James Artie Coley b Feb 3, 1875 in Sebastian Co. AR that married John Henry Davis and she and John were the parents to my twin sister's mother-in-law. My twin doesn't do computers and she and her daughter wanted me to see if I could help them find her parents.
She also states that she had been told by family that the Coley's were Indian.Our family lore states the same thing and although it is most likely a big story, we have been told that the Indian heritage goes back to Pocahontas.

My Lewis Brewer (1832-1886) from Henderson-Benton Co., TN to Sebastian Co., AR ca 1872 married first to Elizabeth Willis, these are my great-great grandparents. One of Lewis & Elizabeth's sons, John James Brewer married Mrs. Sarah Willis Coley, widow of Jim Coley of Sebastian Co., AR area. Jim Coley died but they had a daughter that they gave a "boys name" to, James Coley. This was "Aunt Jimmie" in my family and she, Jimmie, married a Davis and lived in McCurtain Co., OK. After Aunt Jimmie's father, Jim Coley died, Sarah Willis Coley married to John James Brewer who raised her. Sarah Willis Coley and John James Brewer were cousins as Sarah's father was William "Bill" Willis, uncle to my Elizabeth Willis Brewer....
I had sent my notes to Aunt James "Jimmie" Coley Davis' grandchildren at Battist a few years ago and I would assume that is where you got them from? Aunt Jimmie has confused many researchers but I knew Sarah Willis Coley Brewer and John James Brewer daughters and granddaughters as they were friends of my mother and were my father's cousins at McCurtain, Haskell County, Oklahoma where I grew up (1935 till 1954) when I left home. I have extensive records on Brewer families and quite a bit on Willis but I am not a Coley researcher. In fact, I do not know who James "Jim" Coley's parents were. He had a brother called "Doc" Coley who lived around Dayton, Sebastian Co., AR in 1880....
