Philip COLLIE [Parents] 1 was born about 1789 in Pittsylvania County, VA. He died before 19 Feb 1833 in Pittsylvania County, VA. Philip married Rhoda DODSON on 6 Mar 1809 in Pittsylvania Co., VA.

Rhoda DODSON [Parents] 1 was born about 1791. She died after Jul 1833. Rhoda married Philip COLLIE on 6 Mar 1809 in Pittsylvania Co., VA.
Rhoda posted the bond for the marriage of her daughter Elzabeth Ann "Betsy" Carter Collie to James Terry in Pittsylvania Co. VA on Jul. 3, 1833.
This is completly far fetched and probably not even possible but since I couldn't find Rhoda Dodson Collie anywhere in the 1840 census, I started thinking that she may have remarried so I did a search for a Rhoda in Giles Co. TN and came up with this
Field, Rhoda 1 Male under 5, 1 Male 5 to 10, 1 Female 40 to 50In the 1830 Pittsylvania Co. VA census, Phillip had one male under 5 in his household which could be the male in this household that is 5 to 10 and Rhoda could have had another child by her second husband Field. Possible but not probable.
There is no marriage for a Field to a Collie in Pitts. Co so if this is her, she would have married in TN.
They had the following children:

I don’t have much to help you with... It would seem at first appearances that Green S. House is very likely an uncle to my Chesley Green House. And that John and the Green H. House shown in the 1850 Census records were probably brothers. You probably have the info shown here but wanted to make sure...
In the 1850 Haywood County, Tennessee Census – John (age 44; b. TN) and Terecy (age 39) House with siblings Timothy (age 18), (Chesley) Green (listed as “Green”) (age 14), Jacob (age 9), John (age 7) and Joseph (age 5).
In the 1850 Marshall County, Tennessee Census – Green S. House (age 68; b. VA) is listed as you show in your email. (Records show that GREEN HOUSE married BETSY LANIER on 22 October 1804 in Brunswick County, Virginia. This could easily be Elizabeth). The Henry and Jane Collins family in this census must be the Martha Jane House you referred to.
In the 1850 Carroll County, Tennessee Census – Green H. House (age 42) is listed with: wife, Elizabeth (age 37) and several children, and 71-yr old Mary House (probably his mother or an aunt). The family is still in Tennessee in the 1880 Census.
IN the 1860 Marshall County, Tennessee Census – 78-yr old Green S. House (b. VA) is listed in the home of R.D. and Ann Carter (next door to Malinda House). Robert D. and Ann Carter are listed next door in the 1850 census, too. (Probable that Ann is a daughter to Green and Elizabeth)
In the 1860 Haywood County, Tennessee Census – John (age 48) is listed with son, Chesley (age 23). Martha Ann Kenny (age 14) is listed in her father’s home in that same district. Records show CHESLEY G. HOUSE married to MARTHA ANN KINNY on 26 Nov 1860 in Haywood County, TN
In the 1870 Haywood County, Tennessee Census – Chesley (widowed) is listed with sons John G. (age 4) and Timothy (age 2).
In the 1880 Wise County Census, Chesley G. House is remarried to a Millie (Millie R. Johnson) with 2 of his older children, John T. and Chesley T. still living in the home and younger children Richard, Lillie, Daniel and Millie (probably children of Chesley and Millie).
In December of 1891, Chesley married my GG-Grandmother, Mariah A. Thompson (widow of W.O. Reeves with 6 children). Chesley and Mariah had 3 children: Elmer Eckford, Hubert Edgar, and Harvel Chesley. Mariah and W.O. Reeves were the parents of my great-grandmother Lula Reeves.
Isn’t family fun!

It states that he was born in White Co., TN Jan. 12, 1821 and on the day of his application filing of Jan. 21, 1905, he was 84 years old.
He enlisted in Co. D, 1st Tennessee Cavalry with Captain W.T. Gose commanding in Aug. of 1861. He was honorably discharged in 1862 in Knoxville, TN on account of his age.
He took his Oath of Allegiance about the first of 1864. He said he was forced to take it or go to prison.

MERRILL and NANCY (MONDAY) BRADY
It is thought that Merrill Brady and his brothers, Farley and Aaron, were the sons of Charles Brady who came into Rhea County as a surveyor. Merrill (1807-1880?) married Nancy Monday (1812-1886?),
daughter of Arthur Monday, on September 20, 1826.
Merrill and Nancy settled in the Hinch Mountain area of Rhea County and were the parents of 13 children:
JAMES BRADY, born July 1828, married Elizabeth Fugate (born 1835) on March 22, 1858.
MARY " POLLY " BRADY, born January 2,1830, married Dennis McClendon on June 5, 1845.
FARLEY BRADY, born 1832.
PLEASANT BRADY, born 1834.
REBECCA JANE BRADY, born June 29,1836, married Claburn Fugate. She died April 20, 1918.
CHARLES BRADY, 1838-1917-see separate history.
WILLIAM ARTHUR BRADY, born 1840-see separate history.
STEPHEN BRADY, born 1842,
SAMUEL HOUSTON BRADY, born 1845, married Emily Wilson about 1864.
SARAH A. BRADY, born 1848, married R.B. Bohanan on December 8, 1869.
HANNAH E. BRADY, born 1850, married - McGuire.
GREEN BERRY BRADY, born 1852, married Julia A. Lindsey on March 31, 1888.
N. BARNETT BRADY, born 1855, married Sally Whaley on December 13, 1883.
Some of these children went to Texas. Carole Holmes, who sup-
plied part of the above information, is a direct descendant of Charles and Zilpha Ann (Gear) Brady. There are many descendants of Merrill and Nancy who still make their homes in Dayton.

We have always been told that we were related to Lew Wallace who wrote "Ben Hur". In fact, we had an autographed copy of his book before my mother passed away but unfortunantely it was sold in her estate sale. David Wallace had sons, William, Lew, John and Edwin. James' middle name is Edwin and his brother is John. So there is a possibility that these brothers are linked to Lew's brothers.

Prof. Wallace Missing
Apprehensions for his safety by his father in law and his wife
Rev. J.K. Street and daughter, Mrs. J.E. Wallace, arrived in Dallas yesterday morning to search of Mrs. Wallace's husband, Prof. Wallace. The latter gentleman who is the proprietor of the Corsicana Commercial, started from Fort Worth to Dallas Monday morning to see about locating his paper here, and informed his family that he would return by the evening train. Not returning according to appointment, the wires were used without effect to discover his whereabouts in Dallas. Mrs. Wallace was seized with apprehension to his safety, from the fact that he had just got out of bed from a fever, attended with delirium and it was feared that he might be suddenly taken down with a relapse and have wondered off amid dangers. Under the influence of that dread, Mr. Street and Mrs. Wallace started for Dallas yesterday morning and commenced their search on the east bound Texas and Pacific train at Handley, on board of which they hoped to find Prof. Wallace, but were disappointed. At Dallas, Mr. Street conducted diligent search and inquiry until a late hour last evening without getting a clew to the whereabouts of his son in law. The latter was known to several residents, but none of them had seen him in the city. Mr. Street last evening seemed to be very apprehensive of the fate of his son in law. The professor when last seen had on a blue coat and vest and diagonal pants. He is a tall, dignified looking man, with slightly square shoulders and a light brown long mustache. He wore on the third finger of the left hand a heavy seal ring, with a cameo set and carried a watch chain of filigree, covered with hair. Mr. Street and his daughter are stopping at the Arlington and will be thankful for any information that will lead to the whereabouts of the professor, whose head, they fear, has been turned by fever.

The Last of my Children
Died of paralysis, April the 10th, 1912, in Waco, Texas, Mrs. Lizzie Street Wallace, daughter of the writer. She was born July 31, 1862, in Paris, Texas. She would have been 50 years old had she lived till July of this year. She was my oldest and the last of my four children to die. She was a woman of great force of character, yet for more than half her life she was the subject of intense physical and mental pain. For some years she suffered with rheumatism, which culminated in paralysis, and which was the cause of her death.
For several years she was a successful teacher in the public schools, until twenty years ago, she could not undertake to do that work, except to teach occasionally a private school in her home.
She was a cultured woman, critical, though an excellent writer, devoted to the truth as she saw it, and forceful in exemplifying to in her daily life. She leaves two daughters, Julia and Syble, aged 20 and 18, who are teachers. Julia will finish a course in Baylor University, at Waco, Texas, this year. No mother was more devoted to her children. How deeply they mourn the death of their mother.
For the years of the life of her children, she devoted her time to seeing them properly educated and prepared for the duties of life. Night after night she worked till after midnight to earn the means to properly care for her children.
Often she has told me that it was her prayer to live and work, enduring intense pain, till her children were educated. Her prayer was granted.
When I saw her last, about a month ago, she was helpless, not able to move hand or foot, she earnestly said: "Papa, I have finished my course; you may not see me again in this life; I have done the best I could; I have done my duty."
Yes, she did her duty, yet all the while enduring pain and suffering. Who can do more than his duty? With a vigorous life, duty is more easily done that doing it while enduring pain and disappointment, which was her lot for a large portion of her life.
She finished her course, she did her duty; it is now best that a wise Providence receives her in to the higher life, where peace and comfort shall take the place of her years of pain and trouble. God bless the dear sweet girls and make them useful and a blessing, to the world.
