I hope I have some information on the Olive and Sushine. The only referencies that I could find for a Carl Milbrandt and a Homer Griffin are from the Dallas City directories for the years 1912 to 1918. Carl Milbrandt is mentioned in the directory as living in Dallas for those years. His occupation is listed as an insurance clerk. He disappears from the city directories in 1919. If you look in the Fulton County Georgia Census for 1920 (Enumeration District 133, Sheet 3A) you will find a Carl Millbrandt (age 26) with a wife named Olive (age 22) and they have one daughter named Olive( age 6). Carl's occupation is listed as an insurance underwriter. I think this is the Olive you are looking for. The only Homer Griffin that I can find is also from the Dallas City Directories. Homer first shows up in 1912 also. His occupation is listed as barber. He disappears from the Dallas area about 1917. If you look on the 1920 Creek County Oklahoma Census (Enumeration District 16, Sheet 2A ) you will find a Homer Griffin (age 37) with a wife named Mary ( age 24). His occupation is listed as barber. This may be Katie's child. The middle initial for Homer in the city directories and the census is the same. Millbrandt or Milbrandt is not a common name and I think that I have found Olive for you. I am not quite as certain about Sushine or could she have had the name Mary also.

Julie,

George married Lil- Elma Martin in Brownwood, December 25, 1924. They are buried next to one another at Greenleaf Cemetery.
I went to Greenleaf Cemetery today and visited the office. The gentleman in the office pulled all Savage internment records and let me see them.
The plot that George B., Lil-Elma Martin Savage and George B. Jr. are buried in, also contain the graves of George's father, mother and infant sister. There were designations that two plots next to Rev. H.T., Susan and Inf. daughter Savage, were for Martin T. and Ruth Savage. Although there had not been any burials for them. That takes care of the five plots in the first half of the family plot. The second half has George B, L.S. and George Jr. Savage buried with two plots reserved for Wm. T. and Willie Sue Erwin (Willie was George's sister), but no burials had taken place. That accounts for all ten grave plots in the Savage Family Lot. The picture with the red lines in the right hand corner, marks the corner of the lot where the concrete curb is under leaves and debris. The vacant grave plots would be two to the left top and two to the left bottom. So, as you can see, it is not very likely poor Katie is buried here in the family plot. Notice the tombstone for George Jr., states "son of  G.B. and Katie Savage. This family lot is in the section of the cemetery designated "The I.O.O.F. Section" (International Order of Odd Fellows). George B. has a Masonic symbol on his side of the tombstone and Lil-Elma has an Eastern Star symbol on hers. There is also a marker for George denoting her was a veteran of the Spanish American War.
I am not sure what else I can check. I called a Savage in the phone book here to see if he was related to these Savages, but got an answering machine. I left a message for them to please return my call and that I was looking for Savage descendants here in Brownwood. No return call yet. The tombstone for George and Lil-Elma appears to be no older than maybe two or three years. I am hoping someone locally has provided it and still lives here. Once again, I will let you know of any developments.

From "The Promised Land" by James C. White. Publisher of the Brownwood Banner, Secretary and Historian of Brown Co. Pioneer Association 1941

…After the frontier period had ended and the Promised Land was rapidly settling down to a steady development that has continued to this day, a great many ministers of the gospel came here, some of whom have already been mentioned in this series of stories. Among the number was the Rev. Hiram Thomas Savage, who came here in February, 1876, and with the exception of a few years remained to the end of his days, January 21, 1918. The Rev. Mr. Savage was ordained as a minister of the Baptist church after he reached Brown county, in 1881; and he devoted many years to preaching and general missionary work, including a great deal of campaigning in behalf of Howard Payne college in the early years of that institution's history. He educated all his nine children in Howard Payne, and had the satisfaction of seeing all of them enter upon successful careers in their mature years.
The Rev. Mr. Savage was born in Dade county, Missouri, December 21, 1843, son of James Robbins Savage and Louise Jameson Savage. His forebears were frontiersmen in America, his grandfather, William savage, having been a Revolutionary soldier. The family moved to Texas in 1845, stopping first in McKinney and later moving to Bells, Grayson county. Mr. Savage was a Confederate, in Troop B. 13th Texas Dismounted Cavalry. He was married to Susan Catherine Roberts of Savoy, December 25, 1871, and after three children had been born this family moved here in 1846 and settled in what is now known as the Weedon community west of Lake Brownwood. He helped organize the Pecan Valley Baptist association and was its treasurer for many years. He preached and organized churches all over this section and was instrumental in the establishment of Howard Payne college here, contributing generously to the school at its inception.
Of his nine children, two live in Brownwood now. They are George Benton Savage, past president of the Brown County Pioneers Association, a former state official of Oklahoma and a practicing attorney; and Mrs. Edna Savage Saunders, widely known musician and business woman.  Other children are James J. Savage, Hollis, Oklahoma; William T. Savage, Dallas; past grand master of the I.O.O.F. and former Legislator; John B. Savage, Roswell, N.M.; Edgar Savage, in the U.S. postal service in Los Angeles, California; Ernest Samuel Savage, Elida, N.M.; Carroll Otto Savage, Abilene; Mrs. R.C. (Maye Savage) Nipper, San Antonio.

Susan Catherine ROBERTS 1 was born 17 Jan 1853. She died 20 Feb 1933 in Brown Co., TX and was buried in Greenleaf Cemetery. Susan married Rev. Hiram Thomas SAVAGE on 25 Dec 1871 in Grayson Co., TX.
