Eighter Motel Owner Dies of Heart Attack
Garlan H. Elliott, 69, owner - operator of the Eighter From Decatur Motel suffered a heart attach at his home Sunday morning and was dead on arrival at a local hospital.
He was the son of Barney and Nannie Elliott of the New Harp Community where he grew up and attended school. He moved to Wilbarger county in 1921 returning to Wise county in 1935 when he entered the motel business.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Hoyt Elliott of Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Isel Smith of Greenwood and Mrs. Homer Cobb of Sherman; one brother, Jewel Elliot of Burkburnett; and three grandsons.
Funeral services were held at the Fundamental Baptist Church Monday at 2:30 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. William Savage, officiating. Interment was in the Alvord Cemetery.
