The sone of John Leith Wallace and Mary Elizabeth Pratt Wallace. Born in Bibb County, Alabama at Six Mile. Grandson of Matthew Wallace and Rachel Leeth Wallace. Great Grandson of John Wallace, a Revolutionary War Veteran. Matthew Duncan went by Duncan. He graduated from Six Mile Academy in Six Mile, AL. See his biography in "The History of Fresno County" for other educational degrees. Rev. Wallace was pastor for First Presbyterian Church in Walla Walla, Washington for five years until 1900. In that year on Oct. 7, he married Eva Westfall in Portland, Oregon. He began his ministry in Freson, CA in October of that year. He also ranched in the San Joaquin Valley on 80 acres, as well as homesteaded two half sections on the San Joaquin Valley's West Side. He and Eva were divorced March 24, 1922 in Freson County. Rev. Wallace died of heart complications Feb. 6, 1936 and was buried at Belmont Avenue Cemetery in Fresno.
Eva WESTFALL was born 17 Dec 1877. She died 21 Dec 1961. Eva married Matthew D. WALLACE on 7 Oct 1900 in Portland, OR.

Wallace born Bibb Co., Ala Aug. 29, 1843, Son of Pulaski and Durana (Pratt) Wallace and Grandson of John Wallace, native of Maryland, who emigrated to Davidson Co., Tenn. in pioneer days, removed thence to Centreville, Ala in 1818. Raised a family of children both he and his wife in Bibb. Co., The father of Thaddeus was born in Centreville, 1820. Presbyterians. Married 1842 (Note marriage records show 1841) Durana Pratt born Bibb Co., Ala 1832. Children Thaddeus C., Eugenia wife of W.H. Logan, Julius M., Leonidas T. and Matthew P. Thaddeus married June 8, 1867 Margaret Lightsy, born Bibb Co. Ala Feb. 19, 1845 Daughter of Jacob and Johanna (Snead) Lightsy, the former born in Barnwel District, S.C. 1810, the latter born N.C. (Census says S.C.) 1812. They married 1835. 10 children, 4 living (1893), Elmira wife of D.L. Crews, Margaret J. wife of Thaddeus Wallace, Isabel, unmarried and Jacob. Those deceased are: Hanley D., Daniel E., John D., Haseltone, Wilson and Mary. The father died 1858 and his widow 1861. Baptists.
