Letters from J.K. Street (My Great Great Grandfather) to his wife Ninnie, (Melinda Elizabeth Pace Street) during the Civil War. His letters are written in diary style and tell of his day to day life in the 9th Texas Infantry, Co A. from Paris, Lamar Co., Texas

Letters – These letters have been transcribed exactly as written. The spelling and punctuation have not been altered. In some cases I could not determine a word and in this case you will see a ___ in place of a word.

As well as the accounts of the Battles of Shiloh, Perryville, Murfreesboro and letters while J.K. Street was a prisoner at Vicksburg and the Irving Block.  A full name index can be seen above. ***

 

This is a book filled with 248 8 ˝ x 11 pages of poetry, romance, religion, fear, death, history and genealogy. J.K. Street was a Chaplain and writer. He tells of his travels, personal thoughts, camp life and conditions of the camps, hospitals and cities. He mentions in his letters that he wants his wife to be sure to keep all of his letters; maybe he knew that someday, his GG Granddaughter would find them and transcribe them for the world to see!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Newspaper Articles – Fred H. Williams and others from Dallas, TX 1920’s – 30’s. Fred was the first city ambulance driver, A Highland Park Asst. Police Chief and a Dallas County Constable and these articles mention names of many who were sick, arrested or victims of crimes! Full name index when finished.
